At-Home Use/Medical Alert System/Features/Welfare Check
"You are so good to check with me to see that I am OK." Medical Alert System Inactivity Checkin

Automatic Welfare Check

Rescue Alert's medical alert can detect that the subscriber is active and responsive by allowing him/her to interact with the system regularly. We offer two variations of this service; one based on an alarm clock, and the other based on a timer. Only Rescue Alert offers the alarm clock based Check-in feature. pricing information

Check-in Alarms

  • Programmable for up to five daily Check-In times.
  • At the programmed times, an audible alert sounds and the subscriber must respond to it.
  • If the subscriber does not respond to the audible alert, the medical alert sends a Check-In signal to the Response Center.
  • The check-in schedule is not altered by other subscriber activity.
  • Provides more protection to the subscriber, as it tends to establish a predictable routine.
  • Recommended by Rescue Alert as a superior option to the Inactivity Timer.

Inactivity Timer

  • The timer in the medical alert is set for any interval in 30-minute increments.
  • When the timer expires, an audible alert sounds and the subscriber must respond to it.
  • If the subscriber does not respond to the audible alert, an inactivity signal is sent to the Rescue Alert Response Center.
  • The timer will also be reset by certain activities such as telephone usage.

The following activities will reset the Inactivity Timer.

  • Each time power is applied to the RA400
  • Pressing the RESET button
  • Pressing the HELP button
  • Pressing the TEST/LEARN button
  • Any movement of the HOME/AWAY switch
  • Receipt of any programmed PHB transmission
  • Receipt of any programmed Medication Dispenser transmission (Non-Compliance, Jammed, Low Battery, AC Power Loss, etc.)
  • Any completed telephone call made by the RA400, including Auto-Dial and Auto-Voice tests.
  • Any off-hook telephone extension
  • Each time a Telephone Answering Device, such as an answering machine, answers an incoming telephone call.

There are options available that prevent some, but not all, of the above occurrences from resetting the IIT. But the options will eliminate the convenience afforded the subscriber to reset the IIT by using the telephone. Typically, the subscriber would then have to press the RESET button.
